World Environment Day 2022

Australia is committed to providing sustainable solutions to help PNG reach the national goal of connecting 70% of the country to electricity by 2030.

Australia, through our #PNGAusPartnership, is committed to providing sustainable solutions for PNG’s national electrification under the Papua New Guinea Electrification Partnership – PEP. A key component of this is the Pawarim Komuniti Partnerships Grants program.

Pawarim Komuniti Partnerships works to provide access to clean energy services in rural and remote communities across PNG, through the provision of solar-kits to households, supporting our shared goal of connecting 70% of the country to clean electricity by 2030.

So far, more than 8,996 households have benefitted through projects in Oro, Western, Sandaun, West New Britain and Morobe Provinces – with many more to come in the future.
