The Pawa Bilong Kirapim Raikos project, completed in August 2025, is powering more than 12,000 households and 781 streetlights in 140 remote villages, bringing clean, affordable electricity to more than 60,000 people across Rai Coast District.
Solar power is transforming communities, lighting up homes, supporting livelihoods and improving the delivery of essential services, such as healthcare and education. The new streetlights have created safer community spaces and enhanced wellbeing for everyone, especially women and girls.
Solar energy is also cutting the environmental and financial costs associated with single-use batteries and fossil fuels, polluting alternatives that were relied on in the past. Renewable, clean energy is putting more money in people’s pockets and cleaner air into the environment.
The project trained 1,104 community Solar Champions to provide ongoing maintenance support, ensuring the new solar systems power Rai Coast communities for years to come.
