Australia is partnering with Oilmin Holdings Ltd. – a Papua New Guinean company specialising in logistics and infrastructure – to install solar energy systems at Baimuru Station, an administrative hub on the banks of the Purari River in Kikori District.
The new systems will supply reliable electricity to water treatment, ice production and cold storage facilities, strengthening essential services and enhancing livelihoods for approximately 1,500 people living in and around Baimuru Station.
The project is installing:
- 1 x reverse osmosis water treatment plant
- 1 x solar ice machine
- 250 x home solar systems
- 30 x solar streetlights
