Screening of round 2 submissions

So far in 2025, Pawarim Komuniti Partnerships has called for 2 rounds of expressions of interest for new off-grid renewable energy project ideas in rural and remote parts of Papua New Guinea.

We received an impressive mix of submissions from various stakeholders including NGOs and private organisations throughout Papua New Guinea.

The innovative and diverse project proposals received reflect a strong interest in local community-led initiatives that will promote access to renewable energy solutions in the rural and remote communities throughout Papua New Guinea.

Pawarim Komuniti Partnerships focuses in rural and remote communities, which are home to around 80% of PNG’s population of PNG. Many people living in these communities have limited access to reliable and affordable energy.

Round 1 update

Submissions for Round 1 EOIs closed on 31 January 2025, with screening of submissions completed to progress on due diligence processes, and project contracts to lead the implementation phase.

Aspects of these projects that stood out included interesting project proposals which met our project desired outcomes, degree of innovation and partner commitment.

These new projects will commence in Quarter 3, 2025 with expected project completion to end in 2026.

Round 2 update

Submissions received for Round 2 are currently going through a screening and evaluation process to identify sustainable project ideas for implementation. The selected projects will have to meet the main outcomes for off-grid renewable energy and contribute to the overall development and wellbeing of the local communities and residents.

We thank all applicants for their interest in Pawarim Komuniti Partnerships.
